Sustainability

ISG Jackson has a commitment to working with its clients in order to provide sustainable construction through the use of modern methods of construction, best practice, efficient design, waste management and education. We have a sustainability team whose remit is to expand the knowledge of sustainable issues within the business and provide the drive for new initiatives and change. This remit extends to the wider picture of sustainability, which covers not just the planet (the traditional concept of 'green' issues) but also considerations in terms of people and prosperity.

The sustainability team successfully delivers buildings to clients' proposed design standards. ISG Jackson has successfully completed numerous schemes achieving EcoHomes ratings of ‘Good’ and ‘Very Good’ and is currently working on a number to achieve the standard of ‘Excellent’, including high profile sustainable schemes working to the stringent requirements of the Millennium Community Standards.

We have been working with clients on the research, selection and implementation of renewable energy solutions such as biomass, CHP (combined heat and power), photovoltaics, solar hot water, wind turbines and green roofs. We have been a partner in the development of a new form of building-integrated, cost efficient solar panel, now in use on an ExtraCare scheme we designed and built in Dagenham.

ISG Jackson is commited to operating in an environmentally responsible manner, and works closely with both clients and subcontractors to minimise the environmental impact of its projects.

We are registered with BSI to the international Environmental Standard ISO 14001. This covers the scope of all our operations and we have identified that significant aspects include the amount of waste generated on site and the fuel resources and subsequent pollution caused by driving company cars. All of these aspects, together with a range of issues, are managed responsibly through our environmental management programme. We are able to meet client requirements for the use of sustainable materials and low energy fittings within buildings.

ISG Jackson is a Gold Corporate Member of Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
